My transparent 'button' goes black when i click on it

What Lilybiri said is correct. To check the state quickly, select your button > Go to Properties > State View > Check the color for 'Down' state... Is it black? You can change it to whatever you want from here using color palettes.

Which version are you using? The name 'transparent button' is very misleading, because a transparent button is not transparent by default. It will have states and the rollover/down states can be black. If you are on Captivate 9 or 2017, please check the Object state panel, which you can access with the State View button in the Properties panel. You can make everything really transparent by setting the Alpha to 0 for the Fill and the width to 0 for the Stroke.
