Hello,

I am very new to Captivate 4. I am having an issue with navigation on question slides. The questions that I have placed on each slide relates to a video that I have on another slide. I want students to be able to access the video slide at all times. When I attempt to place a navigation button on a question slide the Insert>Standard Objects > Button the  option is greyed out/not available. Is there any way around this.

Secondally when a question has been answered the Navigation is click anywhere on screen to continue. It there a way to place this navigation on a button, I have buttons on other pages that the user presses to continue and want the same on question pages for consistany.

any help or advice appreciated.

Peter

This is a problem I run into often, and I get around it by creating questions utilizing click boxes on a non-question slide. This allows all the navigation you could want. It does sometimes create other problems though. If you need to track the scores you sometimes need to be creative with the way the click boxes are counted (or not). If you are just using it for knowledge checks that don't have to be tracked this method works very well.

    Hope that helps,

    Thanks Keith,

This is something that I will try. I glad to hear that someone else has run into the same problem and it was not something that I was doing wrong.

Thanks for you advice - its is appreciated

If you are using CP4, perhaps this blog (and the free widgets) could help you to achieve your goal.

    Hi Peter,

You can not place any interactive object on a question slide. It is not allowed by Captivate.

If i understand correctly, you want to videos to be always accessible to the students.

Maybe, you can place your video slides just before the related question slides. This way, students will be able to see the video before attempting the question. Also, if you allow backward movement(you'll be able to see the Back button on the question slide), the students can use the button to go back to the video slide before attempting the question, and then answer the question.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers!

Hi and thanks for your response.

I was pretty sure that was the case. I guess that I was hopefull that someone may have found a way around the issue. The reason that I want the video to be accessable at all times is that there is only one video that the questions (about 20) are about, students may need to view it once to answer questions or they may need to continually refer to the video - this is the reason that I dont want to use the Back button option - it would they would constantly be presented with the video if they did not want it.

Once again thanks for your reply -  it is appreciated.
