Need help adding new audio to pre-existing

Sorry to double-post, but I should have posted here instead of in General.

I used to use Articulate, and I could add audio there without either re-recording the whole thing or recording elsewhere and importing, but those are the only options I see in Captivate. What am I missing? Thanks!!

Sounds like you are comfortable with audio editing software in general, so if you are running Captivate 2.0, just go to the Library and right-click the audio file, then select "Edit with ..." and go find your full featured audio editor (the EXE file for it). Then go to the end of the WAV file and add your audio.

You will probably want to normalize the waveform and perhaps make other edits. When you save it, the same file in Captivate will automatically be changed to show the changes you have made in your external audio editor. Enjoy.

I could also benefit from this potential overdubbing question. I suspect it would have to be recorded alongside in a separate track as opposed to a punch-in on the same track?

Sorry. I didn't see a way to delete the other post or I would have. I often need to re-record just part of the narration on just one slide--when the narration is really long, and I have to make a small change. Thanks!

Hi RedGloves

I'll not give you any grief and link to Forum Posting Guidelines and whatnot. Suffice it to say that if you mistakely post in a category, odds are extremely good that if your question has an answer it will be answered and not ignored, because those likely to know the answer are already watching all categories.

I think your question is likely begging more questions from our side in order to give you an accurate response. The question I have is what are you trying to re-record?

Is it:
The entire narration for a complete project?
Narration for a single slide?
Partial narration within a single audio clip?

What type of audio clip are you trying to bring into Captivate and where are you trying to place it?

Cheers... Rick
