NEW Captivate -- Audio has disappeared after publishing

I created a several test simulation in the "New" Captivate without success (I'm running the latest Ventura on Macbook Pro). The audio works inside the application and in preview, but not when I open the html file in my browser. Am I missing something?

There's no way to toggle the audio setting in the preferences in this new version. There's a dropdown menu for an "Audio Virtual Driver:" but there's nothing there to select. I do not know how to fix this problem. I would appreciate any advice!

I have exactly the same issue, no audio on mac Ventura when publishing, despite the browser.

I will answer with more details to another question you posted (about your goal for this application) but first a solution to this particular question.

Since you need to publish to HTML in the new version of Captivate because it is only meant to create responsive projects (which is contrary to your expectations), it means that your output is like a website. If you want it to have all the functionalities you need to upload the output folder to a webserver or a LMS. The last one is only necessary if you have activated Reporting under Quiz Preferences, which I think is not done due to what I have read in your other posts.

You cannot open the output and play it locally (using localhost) by clicking the index.html file. Only when you are invited to have a look immediately after publishing it may work.

Another possible cause of not hearing the audio may be due to the browser you are using. Sorry, I don't want to insult you at all, but Mac users are often using Safari and that browser has a lot of problems. Can you at least try another browser (Chrome, Firefox)?

BTW Before retirement I was a professor in a university college, am an alumni Adobe Education Leader and as you can see an Adobe Community Expert. I am using Captivate since version 1, which is almost two decades ago. If you want to talk more privately, send me a private message. No commitment.

Thanks for your thoughtful response, Lilybiri. I went ahead and recorded my demo using Quicktime's new screen capture feature, so problem solved.

OK, I made a similar suggestion in the other thread.

Nevertheless, I hope you will read it and maybe come back one day to real eLearning tools. I am always happy to help, feel a lot of empathy for you being a retired professor.
