Question

new image on background

The program that is the topic of my training has changed - the banner color is green instead of blue, with subtle name changes. I want to keep the existing background, but insert the new banner so that it overlays on every background. Can anyone tell me how to do that? Thank you!

Hi Train922,

I assume you have an image of your new banner.
In your existing project, on the first slide:
1. Insert the image of you new banner.
2. Double click on the image. Properties dialog opens up.
3. Goto the options tab.
4. In the Timing section, for Display for: drop down select "rest of project". THIS WOULD SET THIS IMAGE ON EVERY SUBSEQUENT SLIDE.
5. in the transition section for Effect drop down, select No Transition.

Hope this resolves your issue.

Yes, this works and thank you, Manish. The only drawback is the person doing the editing does not actually see the new banner in the left slide panel, so they may not be aware of what is going on. But, this is a definite solution.

Or I suppose you could take a screen capture of the new screen, edit the pic so its just the new banner.

Select all the affected slides in Captivate, and paste the object to all slides. And merge it into the background.

Using captivate, make a new project that just has the new screen captured.

In edit mode, right click on the background and select "Find background in library".

The bitmap for the background will be highlighted in the library. From the library toolbar, select the icon that looks like a pencil writing on a piece of paper (edit with mspaint). Use the marquee tool to grab a copy of the new banner and close mspaint and the new Captivate project.

Open the Captivate project you want to change. Find the slide you want to change, open its background in mspaint. Paste and position the new banner you copied earlier. Press Ctrl+S to save and the slide will be updated in Captivated.

Repeat this process as required.

(Now I'll wait for Rick to come up with something better and easier)

Hope this helps,

Kerry

kerry, I am trying to add a graphic on top of the existing background - I think this procedure will actually swap backgrounds - unless I don't understand this correctly. But, thank you for the reply.
