Novice Question about LMC

My question is more about what LMC can do. I have never used one before, but I'm very familiar with Captivate 5.

Question 1. Can a LMC pass data to and from Captivate? For example, if I had a test, could the user submit incomplete answers, close the project and come back to it later and have the LMC populate the project with their previous answer?

Question 2. A quick search suggests that there are a lot of LMC's out there, including Adobe Connect. Are these all going to be expensive options? I'm not a big player or university, I provide some training to schools, and am really just looking to use a LMC to help me solve a problem where I need to allow users to enter "answers" and then change those answers on different slides, and also be able to span more than one session of the project. Am I barking up the wrong tree??

Thanks for helping out a newbie to LMC!

James

I think you are referring to an LMS? Learning Management System?

1: Some LMSs can accept what is called Resume Data from a training course and then pass it back again on next session.  Whether or not the course is able to use that data depends on the cababilities of the tool that created it.  I've not seen Captivate courses accept resume data back from an LMS and use this to populate questions.  It may be possible, but I've not seen it.

2. If you're looking for a cheap yet very capable LMS, try Moodle (www.moodle.org). It's open-source and therefore free, but is used by thousands of educational institutions around the world.  It also works quite well with Captivate SCORM content.

Thanks Rob,

yes, I was talking about Learning Management Systems. That was just ABA (another bloody acronym)!

I'll have a look at Moodle and see if it will let me do what I need. Thanks

Anyone know if Captivate will accept resume data?

James
