Object Construction Failed

Hi Everyone.

I am producing a responsive project in Captivate 9 and, when attempting to preview the whole project, have run into the following window pop up 'Object Construction Failed'. This only appears in project but not when 'previewing next 5 slides' for example.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks

This sounds like a system issue, and if your machine and Captivate are behaving normally in other circumstances I would infer that you're either running short of disk space (storage) or RAM (memory).

    But first, I'll ask:

Is the source file, and your cache files, located on the internal hard drive of your workstation?

(Captivate does not like working with files on the network, the files should be on your local hard drive for editing.)

You wrote 'preview the whole project,' is it a bigger than average project?

How many slides are in the project? Is there video?

Have you inserted video into the Cp file, rather than linking to a web URL for the streamed file?

How far into the preview does this occur?

Have you been able to publish the file to disk?

    Hi there.

You ask if Captivate and my laptop are behaving normally. I think so if it is normal to always have an 'Adobe Captivate (Not Responding)' message pop up every time I open and close my project. The project does always open and close but that message is always there.

Cache files are on my laptop. I am not connected to a network as I work from home.

The project is currently 32 slides and yes there are lots of pictures, audio files and 1 video file at present. The video has been inserted into the Cp file.

The moment I click on 'Project' in 'Preview' to review the project from the beginning, it gets as far as 14% when generating slides, a 'Generating Slides not responding' message appears, then an 'Object Construction Failed' window pops up, I click OK and Captivate shuts down.

No, I have not tried to publish it to disk.

    Many thanks

Did you try to clear the Preferences (run file in 'utils' subfolder of installation folder Captivate)? Are you on Windows? In that case do you run captivate as Administrator?

It is possible that there is corruption on a slide or object. To test that, you could hide slides before Previewing the project (responsive project is always previewed in Browser).

Preview 5 Next slides works, what about Preview from this slide?
