Question

Offline Quiz reporting from a CD

Hi there,

I am currently creating a quiz that will be used on board ships, one of the key issues that has confronted me is that these ships do not have regular internet access, so everything I need to do will be offline. How is it best to go about outputting the results regarding this?

I don't know much about reporting in general but the quiz will be run from a CD, so I am not sure if that means I will be able to use an LMS or not, hopefully someone more knowledgeable than myself can help there. I am using Captivate 5, which I believe has some kind of offline reporting software in built. Again, perhaps someone could enlighten me as to how I set that up correctly. I'd note that there is no internal server that I am able to use for this task.

Thanks for any help received.

Unless your ship happens to have its own intranet with an LMS set up, you'll need to deliver the content via CD ROM or USB chip or similar.  Captivate doesn't have an "offline reporting" mode.  It does have an External Server reporting option, but this also requires having your own web server running PHP to receive information from courses delivered from the web server (not from a CD ROM).  This option is basically designed for customers that are unable to afford or set up their own LMS, but who DO have a web server.

If you don't have internet access or a network to work with, there's no point considering email reporting either. (Not that I recommend it anyway.)

Is this for the Navy? Navy ships usually have an on-board intranet ...

might help you if you have a way to set up some local tracking with

Moodle or some custom database... I did some work for a US navy

solution a long time ago and it did have local intranet and LMS

already.
