Good day

Hope someone has come across or encountered a similar scenario like what is occurring for me currently with a published training module.

I've created a package that contains click boxes that allows an end user to download files to their system. During testing in pre-prod environment on the links -

"when clicking on the link, it causes the training module to automatically exit vs. downloading the file content."

Below is my publish settings:-

The two files are highlighted in blue that were added into the zip file

Click box settings in my captivate project that should allow an end user to download the content in the online module:-

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Regards

AJ

    Hi Steve

I'm using Captivate 7. The name of the folder is the actual URL that is pointing to the file in my local system. When I had created the zip package, I had added those files into the zip package itself as that is the norm when it comes to downloading attachments from training module. But I believe I maybe missing a step that is confusing the player and I have no idea what it is

Thank you for the response and feedback.

The files that your end users need to download will need to be placed at the root level of the content (as you appear to have done) and that will mean you should just be able to specify the file name as the URL that the click box calls.  It will be a relative link.

However, pay attention to the small dropdown menu that is opened via the small arrow at the end of the URL field.  If you left that set to the default of Current Window, then that could be why your browser session gets terminated.  Try setting it to NEW instead.

    Hi AJ,

Question. Does it actually close the player or does it just open the PDF in a window on top of the module, giving you the impression it closed the module? I ran into a similar issue and realized it wasn't closing at all, just being hidden.

    Hi Steve

It closes the actual player and returns me to the main screen with the details of the course to relaunch it again.

    Hi AJ,

Ok, one theory resolved. Looking at your pics for the URL you have the name of a folder. I am assuming you put that there for illustrative purposes in your post. If not ,that could be your issue as it isn't an actual file you are pointing to so it may be confusing the player so it fails. Unless this a lower version of Captivate and it operates differently than 9.

That is all I got... best of luck!

    Cheers
