Question

open file/url in Captivate 2

I've read several strings hoping to find a solution to this issue. Unfortunately, I've tried them all and nothing is working.

I have a click box which I want to open a word doc when clicked. When I set the target to "New", a new browser window opens but I get "action cancelled" or "page cannot be displayed". If I copy the URL from that window to a new window, it does open the doc.

If I change the click box target to "Top", the document will open in the same browser as my content, wiping out the project. Clicking the back button causes the project to start over from the beginning.

What's the solution?

    Hi There,

I too have been looking all over the forums for a solution to this, but can't find one. I am using Captivate 2, publishing to the web and trying to open a Word document with no success. I can link to and open websites, but not Windows App docs. What am I missing?

Do I need to use javascript to do this?

Perhaps a solution is in the "Proper Way to call JavaScript Function"
    thread, just above/below this post?
