Open New Movie

I'll try to make this as complete a question as I can.

I have created 2 movies . . . and I want to click a button on the last page of one to have it open another.

I have published both as a Stand Alone item, because I want to be able to either post it on a website or give it to a customer.

I'll admit, I'm not sure what the advantages of publishing to the other options are (Flash, e-mail, etc.), so I chose Stand Alone.

However, when I publish both movies to a folder on my desktop and run the first . . . when I click the button, it does not open the second one. Only a black screen.

What am I doing wrong? Am I choosing the wrong publish option?

I want to be smart and keep the ENTIRE movie in a manageable size, so I am putting them into different movies. What is the best way to publish so that it can be given to someone else to put on their computer and use?

By the way, I tested a publish to Flash, and it seemed to work, but the result came up in a website page. Not sure if that's what I want it to look like though.

    Hi Pam!

    I can understand your frustration with opening up seperate .exe files as I was struggling to find the answer myself earlier this week.

    To open up a seperate .exe movie from one .exe mov, open up the properties of the button you will be using to open the other movie by double clicking on it.

    Under the Button tab, in the On Success drop down, select Open other movie.

    From the Open other movie drop down below the On success: drop down, select the ... and choose the .CP file for the file other movie's exe.

    The .cp and the .exe must have the same name on publish for the button to work correctly.

    For example:

    We have two captivate movies, index.cp and course.cp

    Index.cp covers a basic introduction to your different courses and contains a button to open up course.cp from within it.
    This button is set to On success: Open other movie: course.cp

    Publish your index.cp movie

    Now open up and publish your course.cp file into the same directory that you published your index.cp movie, making sure that the Movie Title on publish is the same name as your .cp

    When you open up and run your index.exe and click on your button, your course.exe movie will open!
