Opening Captivate 3 files in Captivate 7

Question

We have a large number of Captivate 3 projects. We are upgrading to Captivate 7 and I have just had it installed on my laptop. I know that I cannot open Captivate 3 files and that the answer is to convert them to Captivate 6 and then to 7. However, my IT department tell me that Captivate 6 is "unpurchaseable". So how can I open my projects? Is there any way of getting Captivate 6 for a limited time to enable us to do this conversion?

You cannot open CP3 files in CP7. Maybe with an intermediate version (5 or 5.5), doubt if 7 will do the trick? But even then, since so much has changed (you skipped 5 versions, 5.5 was also a full version, and 6.1 almost full) there will be a lot of work to do after conversion. Don't expect a smooth transition. Especially animations and question slides, even text captions (text engine changed totally with 5.0) will undoubtedly cause troubles. Personally I would try to create from scratch with the assets (like backgrounds, text...) that you can recover.

You'll have to contact Adobe maybe? Hopefully someone will pop in here?
