Question

Page after Quiz is faded at first

Good morning everyone...

I'm using the trial version to see if this program is worthwhile to spend my company's money on...but I'm having a major issue with the quiz slides that I have incorporated sporadically the course I'm creating.  The quiz slides seems to work correctly, but I'm deleting the answer(?) slide that automatically appears after the quiz and creating my own slide to show the answers.  (Since I have quizes spread throughout the course and not all in one place, the program won't allow me to have the automated answer(?) slide after each quiz slide.  It only allows me to have one, so for consistency purposes, I have deleted the automated answer slide.

But....now when I preview the course and answer the quiz slide, then next slide starts right away, but is faded for awhile before the slide becomes clear.  Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong that is causing this to happen?  Is it just not a good idea to have multiple quiz slides throught the course, I feel that helps with user interaction....

Any ideas would be helpful...thanks.

Hello Jeanne,

Since you are talking about a trial version, I suppose it is P4. Problem is that I do not think you can install the patch which solves some problems. I'm always putting in question slides all over a simulation training, so this is not that uncommon.

The fading in of the next slide: could you check if there is perhaps a Transition 'Fade' (in Slide Properties)?

How did you delete the 'answer slide'? Normally you should deactivate "Show score at end of quiz" in the Quiz settings (Menu Quiz, Preferences).

On the question slide, where you have the behavior, which buttons did you keep: Skip, Back, Submit, Clear?

Did you realize your own final slide (score slide) by using the Quiz system variables?

Sorry for the question, just trying to have a better idea about your problem.

Hi Lilybiri, thanks for the response.  I checked the transitions on the following slides and they had the typically, 5 second transition on the slide and the elements that have been added to the slide so I changed each element that appears at the beginning of the slide (pics, words, etc) to no transitions and eureka!  it worked.  At least it looks like it did.

So I'm going to go back and change all of the slides that are affected by this to see if that fixes it.

I deleted the answer slide (I'm assuming you called this slide the score slide????) by simply right clicking on the slide and selecting delete.  In fact, now the answer slide doesn't appear at all anymore whenever I insert a quiz slide in-between normal slides.    When you say scoring variables, is there a way to have the score slide for all quizes throughout the course and not just after the previous slide?

I kept all of the button options that you listed in your post...but I changed the wording on the SKIP button to now read Skip to Next Slide.  I had to change the wording on the correct and incorrect options to say click on the Skip to Next Slide button twice to advance to the next slide, because I hate the press y part.  So silly if you ask me....the users should be able to skip to the next slide as soon as they have the right response, not how they have it set up now.

Thanks so much for your response....this program is great, but I think I'm finding some of the things I don't like about it already....

Hello,

All the scores in a CP-movie are totalled, and the score slide gives you normally this total. Have a look at the Advanced Interaction view (Project menu). Here you will see all the scored slides, because in a simulation movie you could also score  interactions of the user. On the standard score slide, at the end of the movie, you will have the total for all the scored items, quiz slides as well as interactions.

If a user clicks on Submit or Skip, the project will continue and goes to the next slide. I do not understand very well your problem with this? Skip means that the user doesn't want to answer the question, Submit that he answers and wants the answer to be checked (normal proceeding in all kind of quizzes in all software with quizzes). So in both cases the project continues. I believe you have some misunderstandings. If so please post your questions, so we can clear them out.

In CP4 you can use the system variables, p.e. to create a score slide wherever you want. System variables can be inserted in Text Captions, there is an icon (X with a down arrow) on the formatting toolbar (or in the Properties dialog box of Text Captions). Some system variables that could be of some interest for you are: cpQuizInfoTotalQuizPoints, cpInfoPercentage. You can find more variables on this blog:

http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/05/list_of_system_variables_in_cp.html

Could you tell which aspects of the program you do not like? I would like to know about them and be sure, I'm not a Adobe Employee at all.
