pause slides

this must be an old question but there are so many versions of answers out there...

I have multiple slides and when I publish I am unable to prevent the slides from progressing!

Seriously - who would design this as the default?

Does anyone know how in captivate 8 to make users click the forward / play button at the base of the screen?

And stop published slides from progressing like the wiley coyote?

the problem was click boxes did nothing...

However I think I might know the answer - I used a powerpoint presentation pptx from my mapped drive and saved the project cptx. to the same drive. I have a feeling I need to start and save from my C: drive and not a network drive.  This could be a problem with work drives particular to me - but am going to try again. I noticed the previous (last year) version was in these folders and the click boxes were working

    thanks

You should NEVER work on CPTX files saved to a network LAN location.  Copy them to your hard drive and THEN open in Captivate.

Depending on what action you were trying to perform with the click box it could be due to Flash Global Security that it did not work.  You need to ensure the publish folder location is set up as a trusted location in your Flash security settings.

    You MUST be new here.

You need to think of Captivate's timeline as being like a movie. It plays continuously unless you PAUSE it.

Captivate provides several interactive objects that are all capable of pausing the timeline at run-time.  These include buttons, Smart Shapes, Click Boxes, Text Entry Boxes, etc.

If you DON'T want your slides to progress normally, just add a click box to pause it.
