Question

"Pause until user clicks" not working consistently in CP5 project

Hi,

I've just started using CP 5 for the furst time having used versions 1-4 previously. I'm creating a project that is mostly interactive with a couple of short FMRs.

When i publish or preview the project some of my checkboxes fail the pause the demo. This is true for the swf and exe output. And I have definitely set the check boxes to pause - the pause icons are visible in the timeline.

Some background info on the project: Most of my progressions are done using invisible clickboxes which are set to pause until user clicks , and on success either "Continue" or "Go to Next slide". Both types have failed to pause in different circmstances. There is one text entry box (I've downloaded the dll to resolve the text animation issue just in case) and a number of buttons, most of which do not have the pause option selected intentionally.

I notices that the buttons that had the pause option selected were all working perfectly so I tried exchanging one of my "broken" checkboxes for a transparent button but the button still did not pause the movie.

I'm not sure whether this is a bug, or some option that i'm not seeing, any suggestions would be much appreciated, it's driving me mad!

Thanks!

Niamh

I've noticed the same problem. The BUG seems to be that if the Clickbox has the property visible set to false, it doesn't stop, if set to true it stops as required. @ Adobe: pls file this bug, as this is fundamental for creating software simulations which is your main USP. If that doesn't work, one might as well use the main competitive product for pure videos.

    cheers,

If a click box is set to Invisible, that is the same as if it is NOT THERE. Just like a hidden slide, so this is totally logical that it will not do anything.

I hope you are talking about the Visibility in the Properties panel, which is different from the visibility on the Timeline panel that is controlled by the eye icon.

    Hi Lilybiri,

thx for the prompt response. Yes, I am talking about the properties panel. What took me off guard was the fact that I mistook it for the same behaviour you get from Button "make button transparent". Obviously we are talking about two different functionalities, my mistake.

    Cheers!

    Hello,

Check your version (has nothing to do with your question, just to be sure): it should be 5.0.1.624.

The behavior of CP has not changed concerning Click Boxes: they do pause but at the end of their  timeline. Perhaps, if you posted a screenshot of the timeline with the 'non-working' click boxes and explain what you expect.

BTW: is this a new project in CP5 or an upgraded one.?

Thank you both for your answers, no solution yet unfortunately.

Rod, I did as you suggested but the issue remains.

Lilybiri, I was on 5.0.0... but have updates, restarted and republished but the issue remains.

The following is probably the most complex timeline in my project: The text box and the first 2 click boxes pause correctly. Slide continues on success, The last button however is a transparent "Go to next slide" button and it does not pause. I have also tried a checkbox in this porition (using the menu and by copy-pasting a working checkbox) but it just doesn't pause. I have also tried using a "Continue" instead of "Go to next slide" option but this does not work either.

Thanks again for your help, any further ideas welcome!

    Hi Niam,

I do have troubles with the forum, doesn't update, etc. Trying by mail.

Could you check if your screenshot is showing? I'm not able to see it, did you insert it with the still camera icon? There is no link in the e-mail as well, so I think you tried to attach it which is not possible on the forum.

Have you tried clearing out your cache (via the button in Preferences) or deleting your Preferences folder completely and allowing Cp5 to regenerate a new one?

These fairly simple steps can often resolve a lot of wierd Cp5 issues.
