Question

Pausing videos from a play pause button

I have a menu on a page which has 5 buttons each button triggers a video to be viewed. The action assigned to each video assigns to a variable and after all the videos have been viewed the a next button is displayed to allow the user to move on. All fine and dandy, For this reason I have created my own menu and play and pause buttons ,so there is no need to turn hide and show TOCs and control bars etc. Everything works fine. Except if I hit pause whilst a video is playing it continues. I wish it to pause when I hit the pause button I have created and resume from the frame it stopped on when I hit the play button. I would also like the pause to disable the other menu button so the user cannot his another video trigger. I'm fine doing the button pausing but the pause and resume function for the button regarding the video is proving tricky.

Event videos play totally independent, cannot be controlled by Captivate. Only multislide synchronized video can be controlled by a play/pause button like you want. You can have multiple event videos on one slide, but the synchronized video has to be on its own on a slide. I cannot see which type of video you use, if the buttons jump to another slide or make a hidden video visible?

For your other question about disabling the buttons during pause, could you please post a screenshot of the advanced action you are using for the Play/Pause toggle button?

Thanks Lilybiri. The videos are event videos and change using  show and hide in the action. I may just add a skin to the videos they are very short screen captures it gives the user some control although it is not quite as slick. I don't want to create multiple slides to get one button to be a little more efficient.

Event videos cannot be controlled by a Play/Pause button. I'm not sure it is more efficient with one slide and show/hide actions than with multiple slides, but that is up to you.
