Photoshop Hangs while using pen tool and other selection tools

Hi!

A really strange thing is happening for the last few days while working on photoshop (CC 2020).

I was using Pen tool, Selection tools etc... Suddenly the tool changes to move tool and thereafter I am unable to do anything on that image. Unfortunately, I lose all the work that I have done on that image. 

I can edit other images. But not the one that I got stuck with. I would have to close the image to aging start working on it. 

For example if I tried to change to the brush tool I would still see the small arrow and cross and not the circle (brush tool icon).

Has anyone faced this issue? Or is anyone aware of a way to fix it?

I would really appreciate some help.
