Play button

Hello,

I am trying to edit a clients template.

They have a play button that is custom, not the built-in, and when clicked the trigger is " continue".

Unfortunately, when clicked, continue ignores all other variables and triggers in the slide and automatically moves to the next slide.

We don't want that.. the user needs to complete the slide interactions before moving on..

please help this is urgent to me, i know you all have lives but i would greatly appreciate feedback.

I don't think the Timeline panel shows up completely. So far I see only one pausing point on the Pause button at around 27secs.This means that the playhead will be paused at that moment when it gets to that frame. But if the learner clicks the Play button when the playhead is paused at 27 secs, the pause will be overridden of course.

Where are the interactions you were talking about? I don't see any interaction, you have only some common navigation buttons, a Play button, a Pause button and a Replay button. The last is the only one triggering an advanced action (not an interaction, try using correct terminology). I can suspect what that action is, probably as described in my blog post:

The Help nor the Resource button trigger any action at all. Not sure what they are doing at all.

I don't understand your last question. If this is about the Play button, it has Infinite attempts which means that it doesn't have a Last Attempt event which could trigger an (advanced/shared) action when attempts for failure are exhausted.

Please post a screenshot of the Timeline of such a slide, and of Advanced Interactions panel (F9) so that I can check which actions are on that slide.

If the action is indeed 'Continue' and the pausing point of that 'play' button is before the pausing points of the other interactive objects (variables are no objects, sorry) the play head should stop at the next pausing point.

Have a look at this blog post, where I tried to explain pausing slides.

You also need to check if the Theme is upgraded to your present version of Captivate. I doubt very much that you are using a Captivate template (which has the extension cptl) and is very buggy since several versions. You probably are using a copy of a cptx project, but the Theme may be outdated.

What is your exact version of CP? You find the full version number under Help, About Captivate.

I didnt even think to check this :

I guess my new queston is . should i create advance interactions to control the on failure?
