Another possible cause of this issue is that you have created a Captivate simulation and embedded it inside your main Captivate project file.  This is not a recommended practice because Captivate SWFs are not designed to be nested inside one another and sometimes the inner SWF will conflict with functionality of the outer one.  Turning off playbars is one example.

Do you have a pretest in that module? Because in that case the playbar is automatically disabled.

Thanks for this response, Lieve. So, I guess, if you want a playbar, pre-tests can't be embedded in regular courses then?  I'm just confused about how to create branching scenarios based on a pre-test if you can't have the pre-test within the course.

What am I missing here?

Thanks,

Michele

Playbar is just conflicting with branching! Playbar is OK for a pure linear course, but if you have branching, it is not a linear course and could only confuse the learner. Next on the playbar will always move to the next slide, the progress bar if there is branching will just show weird steps...

The branching  based on a pretest will be configured in the Pretest action. You can edit that action from the Action panel on any pretest question slide. It is a conditional advanced action, based on a simple scenario (that you can change): if result (%) is greater than 50 or not. Both actions are for the moment set to Go to Next Slide, but you'll have to change it.

You can make multiple branchings as well, like

  1. less than 50
  2. between 50 and 70
  3. greater than 70

I do realize that this seems very simple to me, so used to advanced actions. If you want me to explain more in detail how to tweak that action, will create a small blog post about it.
