Player Resource Button

Hello! I'd like to add a Resource button to the top-right corner of my player. This button should stay on the player the entire course and will house various Word documents that the learner can click and view at anytime. Does anyone know how to do this?

One button cannot point to 'multiple' Word documents! Why don't you create one pdf (better and smaller than doc) with bookmarks?

I suspect by 'player' you mean the playbar in the skin? If you want to have this button really IN the skin you need a programmer.

To have a custom button displayed on all the slides is easier:

  1. create a shape button that opens the 'file'
  2. put it on the Main master slide and on master slides used in the project that do not use the Main master slide objects
  3. be sure to have the master slide objects always on top.

I think katiebelle meant a button that is named "Resources" for example. If you click on it, a menu opens and gives you access to additional resources about the current lesson. I have seen this in some lessons, but have never done it myself - also, I currently have the request to achieve exactly the same feature. For me, it doesn't matter if we're talking Word or PDF (or really any other format), but I'm desperately looking for this kind of button/ menu.

Having it on the slide isn't as useful, I'm afraid.

I think you are referring to a feature in the Articulate Storyline player where you can add a Resources tab and have a number of documents set up with links there.

Captivate's player skin does not offer this functionality.  You would have to create your own menu to appear on the slide and have it shown or hidden via Advanced Actions.
