Poor performance of PowerPoint animations in Presenter

Some of my PowerPoint animations that use motion - like Fly-in, Grow/Shrink, and Motion Paths don't work well.  Instead of smooth motion some of them jump.  Not good.  In text animations where sentences are supposed to wipe in,  they just simply appear with no added effect.  Not good.  Are other people seeing the same glitches and inconsistencies in Presenter support for PowerPoint animation?  What works well, what doesn't?
