In microsoft power point 2013 and 2016, importing wmv or mp4 files into the presenter is not available.

When imoprt a video file such as wmv, the media encoder will run and convert to another format I can not import a video file.

Is there a solution?

Importing an MP4 requires that you have QuickTime on the computer. This is a licensing thing with MP4's.

Importing an WMV will launch the Media Encoder and then convert the video to either MP4 or FLV ( I think it is MP4 but it's been a while since I went through the workflow).

The MP4 files should be encoded using H.264.

You say that the option to import videos isn't available. Is the option grayed out? Do you get an error message? Can you provide screen shots of the issue?

thank you for the reply.

1. Importing PIP 001.wmv / An error occurred while encoding the file.

2. Convert wmv to H.264 using Media Encoder

3. When importing a file converted to a presenter, "An error occurred in the source file."

Is there a solution?

Would it be possible to convert the WMV to an MP4 using another tool?

If you need something low cost (aka free) you can try using Handbrake, https://handbrake.fr/

Maybe the issue is with how the Media Encoder application is converting the video. I prefer to have more control over my video conversion/encoding so I don't use the conversion workflow in Presenter all that often.
