I have a series of slides in a movie I want controlled by next and previous buttons in each slide using Click box options.  I also want the Playback Control progress bar displayed but to ONLY indictate the users progress within the movie and not be allowed to click any part of the bar to advance to any of the up and coming slides.

There is action script on the little head that scrubs across. All you have to do is remove the code on it. You will need to open the playbar in Flash, then doulbe click the object. You should see the code that makes it dragable., just delete or comment it out.

I also need to SEE the progress bar but not allow use. There is a bug in this thing that allows the user to "scrub" themselves right into the middle of the quiz at the end of the training lesson. (I think someone didn't test something)

So... I want to disable it. My management wants it as a visual indicator of course progress (we do not use the TOC - takes up too much screen space).

Can someone tell me where to find the source code for the playbars. All I find are the swf files. I am using Captivate 5 on Windows7. I followed the link for the directions on the flash code (animation insert) but that is in AS2 and there hasn't been a version worked out for Cap5 yet.

At this point I would even PAY for a playbar that functions in a logical manner.

At the end of my rope here!!

OK, never mind I found the files. I still think the progress bar doesn't work correctly.

The Playbar FLA's are located in the "Templates" directory where you installed Captivate. On my PC it's C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5\Templates\PlaybackFLA\AS3.

You could remove the code on the playhead scrubber from there and republish a new playbar.

Thanks Michael.....  Your link was very helpful and I will experiment. Its all about backup before changes are made. I am actually going to a Captivate Actionscript course and intergrate that with Flash training.

Kind regards

Hello,

If you do have Flash, you could change the playbar to your wishes. I think you tried the skin editor to remove non-wanted buttons? In CP4 it is to be found in the Project menu.

It helps for others to answer if you mention the version of CP you are using. If it is version 4, I could suggest an alternative. You can use the TOC, it shows progression too in another way (timings). There it is possible to deactivate the navigation for the whole SWF or, by using the system variable cpLockTOC for certain slides.
