preview project does not work

i need your urgent feedback and help concerning the following problem:
i am using adobe captivate 3, i can not preview project using short cut F4, it does not give me error but it hang the program, i have latest flash version installed it ver.9,by the way i have installed it before on same laptop using same windows xp version and it was working , so i dont know what is happened,

your feedback is highly appreciated

    Dears,
    when i use any of preview project tools F4,F8,F10,F12 nothing happened , the program does not close by itself i have to close from task manager,also when i have tried to open new recording file it is not recording any slides i dont know why, plus i can not open this new file again but it's saved as an empty file,
    when i am trying to resize the project no response from the program and i have to close it from task manager also.
    i am confirming that it was working normally before but i dont know what happened , i have tried to install it on another desktop pc but same errors.
    i have tried what you mentioned in the above steps but same problem exsits,
    by the way , i had a virous on my pc and laptop but i ve formated the hard desk, is this affect this program only , and the other programs working normally?

    Hi fadoo

    You don't by chance have an older version of Captivate installed do you? I saw another post in the forums where the person was having a dickens of a time getting additional slides to record. They found that after they uninstalled the older version of Captivate, the existing version began working fine.

    One other thing to ask is if you are using (or possibly have ever used) multiple monitors. I've seen other posts where multiple monitors were used and they had switched back to using a single monitor. When using a single monitor, things began misbehaving (or so they thought) but in reality some of the dialogs were being displayed on the non-existent monitor.

    Hope you manage to get the issue resolved... Rick

    hey all,

    it is an urgent matter for me to find a solution i have reinstalled the program , and it is still not working till now,also i found that i can not resize the project also no response. please your quick feedback is appreciated.

    Hi again fadoo,

    So pressing the F4 key locks up Captivate, correct? Do you have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to shut it down, or does it shut itself down? And now the new problem ... what happens when you try to resize a project? You said there is no response but does that mean that nothing at all happens, or does that also lock up Captivate? Please try to be very specific, and very thorough in your descriptions of what you are seeing or experiencing - we are not there, so we have to rely on your description.

    Try this:
    1) Shut down Captivate
    2) Go to START > RUN
    3) Type MSCONFIG
    4) Click OK
    5) Open the STARTUP tab > deselect all items
    6) Click APPLY, then click OK
    7) Reboot the computer
    8) Open Captivate and try again.

    Let us know how this affected your problem if at all. If it solves the problem, one of the programs that is automatically starting when your computer starts is capturing your keyboard, or some keys, for its own use. You will have to re-enable each program in msconfig until you find the culprit. Either way, you will want to re-enable the programs you actually do want to start, after identifying the one that is causing problems.

    thanks for your response,

    i am creating demonstration project,with 15 slides, even if this project is one slide i can not use project preview through F4, taking into consideration i was able to preview the same project with same number of slides in a normal way ,but now i can not. please it is an urgent matter for me to find a quick solution .

    Hi there, and welcome to the Captivate User to User Community!!

    Tell us about the projects you are creating. How large are they, in terms of physical size (X pixels by Y pixels) and also in term of the number of slides. Also, what kind of projects are they? Straight demonstrations, simulations, quizzes included, and so on.
