Print Handouts without tables results in white text with black background

When I try to print handouts without a table (so I can have a larger image of the slide) all of the slide notes appear with white text and a black background, like highlighted text. How can I change that? Is that working as designed?

I'd check your Normal.dot file and the template file you are using and see if there is a style that matches.

You should be able to edit, save, and republish to see the results immediately.
