Question

Problem Loading HTML5 on an LMS from Cap9

I looked through the forums and it seems like this is not an uncommon problem.

When I load my HTML5 course on our LMS I get a spinning wheel and that's it.  I tried both SCORM 1.2 and 2004 with the same results.  When I published both .swf and HTML5 that course launched without a problem.

Does anyone have a fix, or at least insight, for this issue?

Note....at the moment, and for the foreseeable future, I'm tethered to an LMS and desktops.

Thanks,

Jay

Does your course contain random questions coming from question pools? I ask not because I know the answer, but had a similar experience recently and inadvertently solved this by moving my questions from their existing question pool; recreating the question pools with default naming; and then moving the questions back into the new pools. Suddenly my project works like a charm. It's possible the random quiz questions (which I also recreated) were corrupt.

I know this is not a perfect answer but maybe something from my experience might help.

Have you checked whether or not your LMS SCORM Player is HTML5 compatible?  Not all of them are.

For a test, try uploading the same content to SCORM Cloud and see if it works properly there.  That could indicate that the issue is with your LMS and not with the Captivate HTML5 content.

Business IT rules prevent me from using the SCORM cloud at the moment.... But I am going to try loading the course on another LMS.

Update.... The issue seems to be specific to my current course.  I loaded another course as HTML5 & SCORM 2004 and it ran fine.  From reading other inputs and posts, I,m wondering if it,s an issue with the variables I'm using or the quiz.

Another update.....the course just spins on the other LMS as well.

It could be.  There are several reserved keywords that should NOT be used for naming variables and advanced actions in a project because these names could conflict with the underlying code in the Captivate project.  It's also never a good idea to use punctuation characters in these names.  Unfortunately, if you HAVE done this, you have to replace the variables because although you can rename Advanced Actions you cannot do the same with User Variables.

I have experienced the same issue - the loading spinner just stays on screen. In some instances it takes 20 seconds or more. In some cases, it locks up completely. I have had to package with Flash and HTML5 together with the multiscreen.html deciding the best player, but in a strictly HTML5 environment, this is a problem. I look forward to Adobe's response to this issue. Thank you for posting it.
