Problem with assessment/demo slides

Hi,

I'm relatively new to using Adobe Captivate 9.  I'm attempting to insert a slide into my captivate project where the user needs to complete certain 'on screen' actions in order to proceed.  I thought the correct way to do this was to initially choose the 'assessment' mode when I record a demo slide.  From what I understand, this should allow me to type in prompts for the user, and the user would need to complete the actions on screen.  I believe I should also see an additional tab at the top of my project where I can preview this.  Instead, even after I choose the assessment mode, the demo records MY on screen actions, and there appears to be no additional tab for where I would preview the assessment slide.  I also don't see where I would type in the on screen prompts for the user, but not record MY actions, if that makes sense.  Or is there something else I need to do instead of just choosing 'assessment'? Please help!

If you indeed recorded a software simulation in Assessment (or Training mode) the published version will require an interaction from the learner on each slide. That interaction can be a click box that has to be clicked or a Text Entry Box that requires an input. BOth have been deined based on what you did while recording.

BTW I moved this question out of the Advanced forum to the normal Captivate forum, it is not an advanced topic.

    Thank you so much!

So, I wonder what I would have done during the recording that denied a text entry box or user imput? If I still want to go to the slide and add things that require user imput, would I need to delete or change any settings that I may have accidentally set (to remove these capabilities getting denied)?  Or can I just proceed with adding my text entry boxes, etc?

I always recommend during a training to record in 3 modes at the same time, later on you can combine the slides and it saves a lot of time. Did you really choose the Assessment mode:

You probalby have a Demo mode sim at this moment. You can convert that to another mode but it is a lot of work: you have to add the click boxes, delete the Hint shapes or captions, delete the Text Typing Objects and replace them by Text Entry Boxes which you have to configure.
