Problem with audio after publishing

Hi,
I need your help!
I created a project with lots of narration and many FLV files. The problem is that when I view the published project (.exe), halfway through it the audio stops. The video still plays but it's associated audio stops playing.
The videos are in as progressively downloaded, and the audio setting is at FM Radio Bitrate.
What could be causing this? The project is large, could it be the file size?

Thanks!

Actually, if you are having audio drop out, its not always due to the file size, it's just Captivate. Find the first slide that the audio drops. Then from that slide, export the audio to your desktop, then remove the audio from the slide, then reimport that exported audio, that should fix the remaining slides. Or, my personal fav, reinstall 3 times (that's Adobe's fix).

The audio dropping or double audio on a slide will happen even with small files!
    Good luck

I still need to know if/how I can publish the daisy chained files as a standalone/.exe so I can save them to a CD.
Does anyone know the answer to this? Do I have to publish all of the files as an .exe or just the start file?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello there,

Yes, it could be a file size issue so you might want tot try breaking your project up into smaller segments and seeing if they publish OK then.

If this doesn't resolve the issue I would then try removing the FLV files and see if the project publishes OK. Again if not, try exporting the audio (Audio > Advanced Audio... select all the audio and choose the Export button) and play it using Windows built-in Sound Recorder applet or any other third-party audio player you may have available.

Failing that, please provide a link where we can download the source project file so that one of us can take a look and see if we can reproduce this issue.

It's very odd, if I let the entire project play the audio drops out at a certain point, if I fast forward to that same point the audio is fine for a certain time period and then it drops out again.

I think breaking the project up into smaller segments will work, but how do I make those segments part of the same project or entity? Do I have to create a layout structure in Dreamweaver and bring in the .swf files?

Again I really appreciate your help!

    Hi there,

One way of doing this is to create a daisy-chain effect so that once the first segment has finished the next is then automatically loaded. To do this carry out the following steps:

    1. Break your existing Captivate source file into a series of smaller files.
    2. Open the first source file again
    3. Choose Edit > Preferences and from the Project category choose Start and End.
    4. From the Action menu choose Open other project
    5. Enter the name of the next file you want to load (such as file2.swf) Notice I included the swf file suffix. Remember it is the published SWF file that you want to call / load not the source project file.
    6. Click OK and publish this file.

Now you just have to do the same for the rest of the segments. However on the final segment instead of loading another project you should set the Action menu to stop.
