Problems opening Captivate 7 for Mac after installing new hard drive

Hello!

My hard drive recently crashed and I needed to install a new hard drive (OSX El Capitan, version 10.11.13) on my mac. They re-installed Adobe Captivate (I am using Adobe Captivate 7 for Mac), but now the software and the files I created using the software will not open. Initially I received an error message indicating that I needed to install a new version of Java, but even after I did this, it still will not open. I click on the link in finder and it bounces for a second on the task bar at the bottom and then disappears. I have tried restarting the computer but that doesn't help.

Can anyone help? I need this for work right away!!!

Thanks, Ashley

I suspect that the reason is the OS. Even Captivate 8 was not compatible with El Capitan, I doubt it is the case with CP7. Only CP9 is compatible with El Capitan.

Aside from installing the application, did you get the licensing to work?

As Lilybiri mentions, Cp7 isn't El Capitan compatible, or supported by Adobe.

You were able to get it working before because you had installed it under an OS that it was designed for, and now you are attempting to install directly in El Capitan?

You may need to consider an upgrade to Cp 9 for El Capitan compatibility; or consider installing the OS that shipped with your computer, getting Adobe Captivate 7 installed and working.

At that point, I would recommend you maintain your OS to be compatible with Captivate until you can upgrade.
