Problems with rollover captions in Flash

I created a one screen captivate file with a bunch of roll-over captions. Finally got them all in the correct order so the boxes don't lie on top of the captions. However, I used duplicate to create the captions and when I export to Flash, all the captions that were originally duplicated point to the same caption, instead of the ones that appear in the captivate file. Any one know of any work arounds other than recreating it without duplicating?

Hi JZappa,

In this case, the only help that comes to mind is to be sure you don't (accidentally or purposely) use the "Delete Duplicates" function in the Library before exporting to Flash.

If you frequent these forums often, I'll apologize in advance for the repetition but ... Captivate projects are best edited in - and should remain in - Captivate. I realize that Adobe (Macromedia) makes the "Export > to Flash" feature available, and that's fine, but ... certain objects are not supported at all following the export, and others will lose some or all functionality.

When you export to Flash (or import to Flash from Captivate) and have problems, you might find that no one has a solution. If anything, the Flash forums might be more helpful than here, where our "Experts" are expert with Captivate, but seldom work at the same level of expertise in Flash. Some day perhaps ... but not yet.

Have said that, the answer to your specific question is - it appears that the "duplicate" feature (or more likely the Library itself) does not lend itself to the export process. Another lesson learned ... sorry for your troubles.

P.S. I hope I don't sound like a downer. Each new iteration of the Captivate code gets a little closer to being truly compatible when the project file is opened in Flash. But even then, compatibility is largely dependent on the versions of Captivate and Flash available on the developer's machine. BUT because of the differences in functionality and features as well as the compatibility issues between versions, it may be a long long time - or never - before 100% compatibility is achieved between the two programs.
