Problems with Timeline in Captivate 8

I'm having problems with Captivate 8 and it's Timeline. When I scrub the timeline it does not allow me to see the area I scrub to. I am also viewing objects that should not be seen. In other words, say I have object 1 ending at 00:18 and another object starting at  00.20. I see both objects. This problem only happens when I scrub across the timeline. When I play the timeline it does not happen. I do  not have them overlapping.

Might the problem be that Captivate 8 has an onion skin option that I have on that I don't know about? Or, might it be a problem on my computer?

Thanks

Perhaps I'm not understanding correctly so I apologize if that's the case.

When I am working with a cptx in Captivate 8, shouldn't the stage display exactly what objects are in the timeline for that section of the timeline? That is not happening for me. Perhaps it's a computer issue I have?

No, timeline is not working like that. When editing you see all objects on the slide, when playing the slide you'll see how they'll appear.

You have to get used to that work flow: make slides not too long, it is much better to spread over multiple slides, makes no difference for the user who will not be aware of the playhead moving to other slides. I like to give control to the user, not just time objects to appear unless they have to be synchronized with a VO. Pause the slide, so that the user can watch as long as he wants, and give him the opportunity to decide when to continue by offering an interactive object that will continue.

So let me see if I understand correctly. When I pause on the timeline within a cptx I will see all the objects on the stage no matter where they are in the timeline?

I will have to turn off the view (eye) option to not see them?

If you use the Play button in the Timeline panel, you'll see how the objects appear in time. Same with all Preview options.

This should make the problem more clear.

You seem to be a Flash user who is expecting Captivate to work in a similar way.  It's not and it won't.  So there are some differences that you will need to become familiar with.

Captivate doesn't have onion skins like Flash and the Edit mode doesn't work the same way either.  No matter where your timeline cursor is positioned in Edit mode you will be seeing all objects on the slide that have not been made invisible for editing purposes.  (At least using the small eye icon in the timeline to hide objects in Edit mode works similarly to Flash, but there is also a Visible in Output eye icon in the Properties tab that has control over whether or not the objects are visible at runtime.

Thanks.

There is a problem with one slide and not the others. When I stop the play button it automatically shows the last frame in the timeline. And it doesn't scrub.
