Project returning "Complete" incorrectly - can anyone help?

Hi - I'm new on these forums so hoping someone more experienced out there will be able to help. I'm using Captivate 9.

I have a Captivate course that is set to 'complete' when the Quiz is attempted. I also have three knowledge checks throughout the course, before the final Quiz.

The problem I am having is that the project is returning a 'complete' status when the knowledge checks are attempted but the Quiz has not yet been attempted.

So a user goes through the course to the first knowledge check, attempts that, then exits the course - the user has not attempted the Quiz, only the knowledge check, but the course still registers as complete (and a fail).

I have tried everything I can think of - tested in SCORM Cloud as well as my LMS - even created a new, blank project with nothing in it except a few blank slides, a knowledge check, and a Quiz, and the same problem occurs.

Is there something really obvious I'm missing? I have added the knowledge check slides via Slides > Knowledge Check slides and there is nothing to suggest that Captivate thinks they are part of the Quiz, but inexplicably it treats them as part of the Quiz for the purpose of triggering completion status.

I could possibly do a workaround by using slide views as part of the completion status but I don't want to overcomplicate things.

Would really appreciate any pointers.

Thanks!

Can you show the settings for Quiz Preferences, Reporting?

Here is an article about the functionality of KC slides, and differences with quiz slides.

Knowledge Check Slides - tips - Captivate blog

I wonder if the system variable cpQuizInfoAttempts is populated even for KC slides? You could check that by inserting this variable (use the X button in the Character part of the text container) in a text container on the KC slide to see if it is incremented to 1 when a KC slide is attempted?

Thanks so much for the quick response. Also a general thanks for all your replies on here, which have often helped me in the past!

Here are the quiz preferences:

That's an interesting point re. cpQuizInfoAttempts - I will check as you suggest.

Ok, have checked cpQuizInfoAttempts and it behaves as expected - i.e. it remains 0 during and after the knowledge check. But when I exit the project by closing the window (in SCORM Cloud) a 'complete' status is returned.

Very puzzling!
