Publish Failed: Captivate 6.1, Mac OSX 10.8.5

I am experiencing the dreaded and unhelpful "Publish Failed" error message as well. I receive the message only when I am publishing a project with a quiz; projects without quizzes publish without any issue. I am publishing only to SWF output. I am running the latest build of Captivate: 6.1.0.319. I'm running a MacBook Pro Retina on OSX 10.8.5.

Reading through similar previous threads, I saw mention of a file named "Default.html" to be found in ../Publish/SCORM/Default/1_2.

But the file I find residing there is named "Default_HTML5.html". I don't know if this makes any difference.

I have deleted the plist file as well. Still no joy.

Please, I am open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Hi There,

Greetings from Adobe.

Please try the below steps and see if it works for you:

It seems that Defaul.htm is missing from your SCORM folder . I am sending you the Zip file. Please unzip it and replace it with the SCROM folder already located on Captivate installed location. Please follow the below steps:

  1. Download the zip file from the following link -  https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=pjLGDuZsiduZy79qoEcDEw
  2. Unzip it.
  3. Take the backup of the SCORM folder present at “/Applications/Adobe Captivate 6/Templates/Publish/”
  4. Replace the one with the unzipped folder.
  5. Re-launch the captivate.
  6. Open the captivate project which has SCORM1.2 reporting.
  7. Re-Publish it.

Let me know if you still face the same issue.

Regards,

Mayank

Mayank,

This did indeed solve the problem - I successfully published my project.

I respectfully suggest that the .zip archive you provided be made freely available. That might save time and energy for subsequent users who encounter the same problem.

Thanks again!

What is the exact message you see when you encounter the "Publish Failed"? There can be many reasons.

Cheers... Rick

Thanks for the reply!

The exact message I encounter is "Publish Failed". Oh - there is an exclamation point as well, so that must mean it's a really serious problem.

I wish I had something more helpful to offer, but I'm afraid I don't.

Hello,

Please restart your computer and try to publish again and make sure that you are publishing on a local computer and not on any network location.

Is it possible for you to add a screenshot of the error message displayed on the screen .

Are you able to use the preview feature ?

Thanks

Thanks for your reply!

I have restarted my Mac, and have always been publishing to the local drive. I can use the preview feature without any problem. Attached is a screenshot. The error message is the tiny window in the middle of the image.

thanks again!

Thanks. I asked because I'm in the midst of facilitating a Captivate class this week. One of my participants had encountered an error with publishing and the dialog had other info on it that said something about having used a reserved word or something to that effect.

She deleted all but one of her question slides and the issue resolved. This made me wonder if she had inserted some text that Captivate didn't like.

I might suggest that you begin by saving a copy of your project. Then methodically begin removing one slide at a time until you determine which slide may be the culprit.

Hope this helps... Rick
