Hi there,

A new user to Captivate just working through the basics in order to create some elearning modules for Finance staff within State Government. I have noticed that when publishing projects and exporting as HTML, the sie of the screen changes once published - although it is recorded on the screen when it is published i need to scroll up/down and left/right to be able to see the whole screen, which is no good for the people that are to use the elearning module.

i have played around a bit with the recorded screen size (i.e. recorded at 1024x768) which is the lowest resolution I can go to for the software that I am demonstrating.

any ideas/tips on how to overcome this?

thanks,
J

Welcome to our community, J

This is the age old Captivate conundrum. I'm recording at the size I have available for playback. So why doesn't it just fit?

Keep in mind that while you record at 1024x768 and play back at the same resolution, you really don't have that space available. This is because things like the Browser frame, status bar, buttons, address bar (all this is often referred to as the "browser chrome") is taking away from the space you have to present your movie. Hence, the scroll bars.

Assuming you have no option to record at a smaller size, you are then faced with only a couple of possibilities.

1. Click Project > Resize Project and make the movie smaller
2. Change the way the project plays back to the user. Instead of a pixel size, you scale to 100%. Or you could simply point them to the raw .SWF file as opposed to the .HTM page.

Hopefully this was helpful to you... Rick
