Has anyone experience the index.html file not opening when the projects are published in zip and not zip file even with the elearning output disabled? The files are stored in Google Drive (size are too large to send over email) and we're trying to upload the folder into Sakai. Any instructions and advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you can work out how to get your published Captivate project up to a 'standard' webserver, that would seem to be best for your students to access the content freely. As you've seen in all these replies, you really need some technical help to do this - ideally from your company or a consultant. Setting up a webserver is no simple task if you're not familiar with the technology and requirements.

However, since you have an LMS, that may be the best option - since it's a 'specialized' type of webserver.

See here on how to upload SCORM packages to Sakai (hopefully the version is the same/similar):

Before you upload that package, however, be sure to read up on how to setup a SCORM project in Captivate. If your project and quiz preferences are not setup to work with SCORM, the above will surely fail.

    Noyl,

I agree with the others that you should not be on the hook to get this done. I may have a solution for you. Check out my video tutorial on uploading Captivate content to an Amazon S3 server. They are essentially free until your usage goes over a certain amount. I've been using mine for some time and it hasn't cost me a dime.

Appreciate your response Paul. Your video was very helpful. I did try to download cloudberry per your video but doesn't seem to download because it's for windows. I figure I probably could use MAMP but what you showed on the video makes it easy for me copy and paste and share my adobe published projects externally. Thank you again.

Sorry, it's still very much a PC world for many things.I've always used Cloudberry for this task but I'm such AmazonAWS has other methods for getting your content on the server.

OMG, a zipped folder has to be published to a server or a LMS that is capable of unzipping and launching the index file. That  functionality is normally available in LMS's for a SCO output, which is also a zipped folder.

Playing locally will never unzip that folder. HTML5 output also will only show the real functionality when it has been uploaded to a webserver, and please not a zipped version. This is pretty basic...

Which I tried on Google Drive and Sakai. Are those not considered servers? Plus when saved to unzipped, the files are all in a folder and when i click on the index.html on local server, the project uploads. So then how do i upload to an lms. For Sakai, the work around i hear is to upload on resources.

I don't know Sakai, but Google drive is certainly not a server. You can install WAMP or XAMPP or something similar on your system and those are webservers. As I tried to explain, for a LMS it depends on the LMS, and on the type of output. If you want to report scores, completion you need to save as a SCORM which will be a zipped folder that can be recognized by the LMS. Unzipping in that case will not be necessary. However if it is not a SCORM object, but just a zipped folder, that is called a 'package' and not all LMS's accept zipped packages and are able to unzip and launch the appropriate file.
