Publishing and hosting VR 360 project for VR google

Hi all

I am creating a VR360 project. The learners will use a generic VR headset with remote control to interact with the hotspots.

My question is as following:

- Where do I host the project? We haven't got an LMS yet.

- What publish setting do I choose to allow learners to view the content on the headset?

- What publish seeting do I choose to allow learners to view the content on the desktop LMS (when it is ready)

- Any issues with viewing Captivate VR project on a VR headset?

Many thanks.

Your VR360 content needs to be hosted from a web server.  An LMS is also a web server, but you do not need to use an LMS unless your requirement is to track learner interaction with the content.  If all you need to do is host your content somewhere that end users can view it, then a web server that your users can reach is the minimum requirement.

You need to publish your content to HTML5.   This also applies if you eventually DO want the content delivered from an LMS. HTML5 is really the only viable output for this type of content.  If publishing for an LMS then you would need to configure the content for SCORM.  Find out which SCORM standard your LMS supports first.  SCORM 1.2 is the most likely one, but SCORM 2004 is better if your LMS can work with it.

Be aware that not all VR headsets are compatible with Captivate's 360 content.  So you would be wise to test with a small project first to determine if you are going to run into issues with particular headsets.

Thanks Rod, appreciate that. Dissapointing about the headset - we bought a few generic ones from China. Now I'm worried it's not going to deliver what I need 😞
