Question

Publishing Captivate videos in HTML5 with Media Encoder

Hi there,

There does not seem to be any settings in Captivate 9 or in Media Encoder where it is possible to control the conversion of
videos when publishing Captivate projects to HTML5.

When publishing Captivate, the Media Encoder automatically converts all videos to 320x240 resulting in poor video quality. I've included a typical log file of a converted video.

Any solutions or workarounds would be most gratefully welcomed!

Andy.

Use MP4/HD video formate for your course.

I am totally puzzled by your question. You talk about 'publishing to HTML5' but also about pure video? What do you want exactluy: publishing an interactive course to HTML5 or do you simply want output to video (mp4, H264 codec)?

It is perfectly possible to choose the size 'resolution in px) of the video in AME before conversion. Click on the name of the video to be converted in the Preset column and choose the resolution, bitrate etc you want to convert to.

OK, I will re-word explaining the process I am going through...

When I publish Captivate to HTML5 format, the Media Encoder opens up and automatically converts all of my videos within the project to
the size of 320x240. I have about ten small .flv videos in my project all around the size of 760x570.

I never needed to do anything with the Media Encoder when publishing in Captivate 8 as all my .flv videos converted correctly, however, since upgrading to Captivate 9 I have now encountered this video quality problem.

No idea what is happening, but why do you not use the Media Encoder to convert the videos manually to mp4 and insert them? I haven't used FLV since quite a while, since it is flash based.
