Question

Publishing links to external sites

Hello,

I have created a Learning Object with external links. In preview clicking

on a link opens the external site in a different window, but once I've

published, I still hear the clicking sound, but it doesn't open the

external site.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong?!*?

As always, I'm grateful for the insight.

Cheers,

Liz

Are you testing from an LMS or your hard drive?

If from your hard drive, do you have Flash Global Security set up to trust the publish folder location?

    Hi Rod,

I am testing from my own hard drive. I've gone to the Adobe Flash Player Help, "Global Security Settings panel." "Always ask" is selected. There is a box for "Alway trust files in these locations:" nothing is in that. Am I suppose to select "Always allow" and put something in the box for always trust?  Thanks for your patience.

I will be uploaded my Learning Object to a discussion group for a course I am taking. What worked in the past was a zip file. My last project wasn't very complicated, adding the hyperlinks is a step up for me, but as you can see I have a lot to learn.

    Liz

Check out this information about Flash Global Security:

Setting up Flash Global Security for Captivate | Infosemantics Pty Ltd

If you are uploading your content to a web server and providing links to the main HTM file for your reviewers then you should be OK. But if by 'upload' you mean you're putting the content on a LAN server and getting them to view it from there then every single reviewer would need to set that location up as a trusted location in their Flash Global Security settings.  This is NOT likely to happen.
