Purpose of Language option in Publish settings

Hi, 

I'm confused about the purpose of the Language option in the publish settings. I've tried exporting to different languages but I don't see any changes in the published file. 

It's my understanding that any text or audio files that need to be translated must be replaced with appropriate files. I just want to make sure I'm not missing some magical auto-translation function that I don't know about.
