Pushing the Envelope ~ Maybe?

Hello All,

I'm reaching out today for feedback as I'm relatively new to Captivate. I'm building out an application similar to a Likert survey. The prototype has two questions with 6 responses each. Each response returns a screen with a given ranking or list of cities. This will require 36 screens. 3 questions would require 216 screens, 4 questions 1296 screens and so on. This application would ultimately incorporate 6 - 8 questions. My thinking is that this will very quickly become too cumbersome to build. Another approach might be to build this in Flash / AS3 and generate the rankings on the fly. The limitation here of course would be the mobile piece.  Maybe there is another way to build this in Captivate that I'm not familiar with. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks and all the best.

Rob

    Hi there

One way I could fathom creating far fewer slides would be to present more information on a slide. Perhaps for each of the six responses, you would have an image or a text caption (maybe both) that provide what would be seen on another slide. Then using Advanced Actions, you would then just "show" the information.

And assuming that the information is mostly the same (as in always showing a caption and an image) you could make it more efficient by creating a shared action. Then using that action (along with the associated parameters) for each of the answers.

    Cheers... Rick

If you use CP8, be sure to use shared actions instead of normal Advanced actions. Rick, they have become really useful.
