Quiz caption changes not updating

Hi

I am doing a bi lingual app in Cap 4 on Win XP sp2

I have replaced the default text through prefences for quiz questions in second language.

When I preview The captions retain the original language.  Tried publishing to Flash and still have the problem.#

Hoe can I force the captions to update from the default?

Thanks

    Hello,

Only to confirm the answer from Rick: changing the default Captions in the Quiz Preferences only applies to new question slides. And I believe that you tried to change them after creating the question slides. Localization, producing CP-movies in different languages is possible but the workflow is not that easy. I have to produce the same CP-movies often in (at least) three languages and could perhaps give you some tips:

    • try to label the slides (it will be easier to find them in the Word-document); if you have a lot of interactive objects you could also label those
    • export the captions (File, Export, Project Captions and Closed captions)
    • you'll get a Word-document with two columns, left the original text, at right the same text to be updated; here is an example:

    • you can translate the right column (and eventually also the slide labels you see at right)
    • import the captions again in the CP-movie to be translated
    • translating the TOC, will be partially done because the slide labels have been translated
    • if you want to translate the field names in the TOC, check this blog:
      http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/02/changing_default_captions_in_t.html
    • if you also have to recapture some software screens, it helps a lot if you keep some storyboard; I tried replacing the backgrounds by translated versions, but concluded that recapturing is often the most quick way.

And please, can you add your support for having a easier way for localization by introducing a feature request to the Adobe Developing team. The link to the feature request form can be found in the home page of these forums.

    Thanks,

    Hi there

I'm a bit puzzled and confused with your situation. So that makes two of us, eh?

    Okay, some clarification questions.

Where exactly did you change things? Was it here?

If that's where you made the changes, note that this will only influence any new questions you create. It sets the default verbiage used when a Question Slide is created. For existing questions you will need to make the changes manually. You can either edit them in Captivate or you can export to a Word document or to XML, make the changes in the document or XML file, then bring them back in to influence changes.

    Cheers... Rick
