Quiz Email Results

As of the last month, I have not been getting quiz results from users. I have tried taking the quiz myself, and clicking on send test results, and a message box comes up "This form is being submitted using email. Submitting this email will reveal your email address to the recipient and will send form data without encrypting. You may continue or cancel this submission" I then click on ok, and nothing happens, no quiz result gets sent, nothing. It used to be that another message that comes up (I forget what it said) and you would click on yes and the quiz results would get sent.
We recently upgraed to Windows XP 2002, so I am not sure if this has to do with anything. I have tried checking my security settings in Flash, as well as outlook but do not see anything unusual. I also went into the Quiz Manager to see if there was anything unusual, but could not find anything. I am using Captivate 2

I've experienced this same thing, but I've also noticed that it only happens the first time for me. The second time I click the Send Email button, I get the second message and the email does get sent.

So the key (for me, anyway) is to:

-Complete the quiz and click the Send Email button.
-Click Yes/OK on the first warning message.
-In the quiz (which should still be displaying on the screen), click the Send Email button again.
-Click Yes/OK on the first warning message, and then the second one pops up.
-Click Yes/OK on the second warning message.
-Email is sent.

Obviously this isn't ideal, but we may try to include enough instructions so that our users understand what to do.

Thank you for this information. I will have to do some research on other vehicles to get this information. Is there a better way to receive quiz results without involving a lot of complicating programming or databases?

Hello and welcome to the Captivate forums!

Unfortunately, the message you're seeing is very common. It's a reflection of the fact that the mechanism Captivate relies on for submitting e-mail is an old one that is no longer considered secure. For it to work, your operating system, browser and e-mail software all have to allow the message to go through.

As you've seen, tightened security restrictions (such as those found in Windows XP SP2 and later) now generate warning messages that the process is not considered safe, and users can (and probably do) choose to cancel the process.

Depending on the individual user's security software and settings, the e-mail may be blocked before it even gets far enough to generate a warning.

For this reason, e-mail submission of results is NOT recommended. There's way too many points of failure that will prevent consistent receipt of results, and these failure points are completely out of your (and Adobe's) control.

Sorry it's not a better answer.

Regards,
John
