Quiz Issues - Not highlighting selected answers when 'back' button pressed

Any help would be very much appreciated for this problem.

On Captivate 5.5. and have a few quizzes with anything from 18 questions to 37, the user enters their name and it moves onto the question page.

For example, the user answers question one and goes forward, then goes back one and the answer is no longer selected but the question is locked. When the user comes to review the quiz, it now says the question hasn't been answered when is has been and obviously doesn't get a mark.

Anyone else experienced this or have a clue how to fix it? My preferences are as follows:

Hello,

This is a normal behavior, the way it is designed in CP. You can have multiple attempts on 2 levels:

  1. on question level, then the user can retake the question while remaining on the question slide until the answer is correct or until his attempts are exhausted
  2. on quiz level: then a Retake button will appear on the score slide, and the user can retake all the questions, because all answers will have been deleted.

The back button will only allow the user to go back and have a look at the previous question slides, not to retake an individual answer.

If you want that functionality you will have to create your own question slides,

Lilybri, I'm not sure if I explained myself well enough in my original post.

User answers question one - presses submit button. CP moves to next question, no problem.

User then answers question two, presses submit button.

User moves back to question two and the button they had selected is no longer selected and the question is locked (it should be locked obviously, but CP should show which answer the user selected).

When you review the quiz it claims 'you did not answer the question completely'. When you had selected something. Also in tests, it was found it knocked off two points from the user sometimes.

I've just tested one this morning and it seems to be it'll sometimes happen on first go, or you have to move forward and backwards a few times for it to start up this behaviour. Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

I visited the link, and completed all questions although I didn't understand anything

What I did notice is this:

  • If the question is answered when arriving on the question slide and submitted everything is OK during review.
  • When going back to an answered question, it is locked, which was expected
  • When going back to an unanswerd question, it is not locked, but if you answer then it will be shown as 'Not completed' during the Review. Due to my explanation of the attempts levels, the Review is correct, but what is perhaps confusing and could be considered as not really expected is that one is able to choose an answer when going back, the question is not locked.

Is this also your conclusion? Personally I never allow Back during a Quiz, and certainly have not tried it out yet with the new Review feature in CP5.5. If you confirm my conclusion, perhaps it would be fine to introduce a feature request?
