Question

Quiz manager

My presentation has several questions slides (both survey and graded) interspersed throughout it and is published as a .SWF file. The issue when viewing the presentation, after the first question slide is completed an email results notice pops up and keeps popping up after every single slide thereafter, regardless if it's a question slide or not. Under the Edit Question/Options tab, the action after each question slide is set to "go to next slide" - NOT "send email". The only way to turn this off is to disable the reporting feature all together. I thought this was a glitch with presentations built in Captivate 1 that I opened in Captivate 2, but I've created new presentations in Captivate 2 with the same results. I only want one email at the end of the presentation with the final quiz score. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you Rick. I was not aware of this and I appreciate you taking the time and trouble to post the link.

Hi Barb, boston,

It seems if you have non-question slides in between question slides, only then Captivate sends multiple emails.

One way is to keep all the question slides together.

Otherwise Right now the only workaround I can give is, in all the non question slides, which comes between two question slides, add a click box, turn off the reporting, but select the Add in Quiz option. Turn off the pause till click option of click box, and also the hint, success and failure captions.

thanks

This is a very serious issue which I have also encountered. I will try the work arounds suggested but I hope that a fix will be made available soon. For correct and consistent operations of Email reporting functionality I am beginning to conclude that my only option for the present is to downgrade back to Captivate 1. This is very disappointing.

Cheers

Hi Harry and anyone else reading this thread

Folks, what we really need to do here is to make sure we tell Adobe about the issue. If we don't do that, it's very unlikely that they will be aware of it.

What's that you say? This forum is managed by Adobe, so shouldn't the fact we are posting asking for help be sufficient?

The thing is, these forums are basically user-to-user. So while those of us that regularly hang out here are aware of all the issues, the fact remains that it's all user-to-user and Adobe folks don't make a habit of visiting. They do from time to time, but not enough to be fully aware. Even then, it's mainly the support staff we see and not developers.

As it turns out, they have a handy link you can use to report issues as well as make requests! And as odd as it may seem, this link actually does work to put your issues in front of the folks that can effect changes. To see that page, you simply click here and fill out the form. Why, I've even created my link so as to save you a mouse click. I set it up so Captivate is already selected for you.

Cheers all... Rick

Hi Barb, not sure why that will be happening? I tried it and it worked fine for me. Is it possible for you to share your project with us?

thanks

I too, am having similar problems with a series of projects I am working on. The problem I am having is that an email window pops up when I advance through the quiz using the forward and rewind controls during the quiz. I have also seen this happen just "out of the blue" on occasion. I had originally set my quizzed to send an email to my address, but reverted back to "go to next slide". I have a feeling that there is some residual persistence in my project file that is causing the problem.

I have created these projects in version 1, but just opened one of them in version 2 only to get the same result. I am publishing these swfs to Flash version 7.

I have it saved in Flash 6 so anyone using an older version will not have trouble opening it on their system. I don't see this as a flash issue though, because even when I preview the movie in Captivate itself, I get the same result.

What is the Flash player version when you are publishing the Captivate SWF file? (You will find it on the published dialog, output options)

What is the flash player version installed on your system. When you are running the Captivate SWF inside Internet Explorer, right click on the SWF, a pop-up menu will come, which will say About Adobe Flash Player 9 or whatever is the version installed.

thanks
