Quiz question scoring and reporting

Hi, I'm working in Captivate 4. I'm trying to build a quiz that emulates our current course assessment questions. The final question asks: Overall, I found this session to be valuable. I've attempted to built a rating scale question slide but need the answer to report 20 points into our LMS. As Captivate only offers this as a survey question, I'm a bit stuck.

If anyone has had the same experience creating a weighted rating question your assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Richie.

Sure, thanks for your update.

Here is the situation. Our final training assessment is comprised of 5 questions.

1. How did you complete this training - 20 points

2. knowledge check - 20 points

3. knowledge check - 20 points

4. How valuable did you find this training - 20 points

5. How clearly did you understand this training - 20points

As you can see the total score is 100 points. We allow a 80% pass rate, really based on the knowledge check questions. The problem I have is that the final two questions need a rating scale question that scores 20 points. Captivates rating scale question slide is survey only. I can build a multiple choice question slide with multiple answers, but you would have to tick every answer to receive the 20 points.

Is there a way to make a question slide with four answers, where 20 points are received for one answer selected irrespective of the answer chosen.

Thanks for any assistance.

Richie.

Hello Richie,

Sorry, did not have time to answer yesterday.

To create a question that report 20pts anyway not withstanding the chosen answer could be achieved in a rather simple way, attach the score only to the submit button on the question slide, not to the answers themselves. So when the user submits the answer he'll get the score of 20pts. We do not have a way to change the system variables with the score, which is a pity (have been asking for it since quite a while).

But I presume that you will want to pass the answer to the LMS? It will be possible to store that answer in a user variable (could explain more extensively if you confirm first that you want the answers), but will have to check (in these forums) how to get this user variable to the LMS. Michael (cpguru) could be of great help there, but he is enjoying his well-deserved holidays.

Hi Lilybiri,

That is an obvious way to do it, thank you. I guess that fixes my scoring question but in addition I do need the selected answer to report as well. My thoughts were that this would be a user variable I've not really explored the variable option as it's a little out of my current level of knowledge/experience. Any suggestions you have would great.

Thanks again, much appreciated.

Hello,

Welcome on the forum.

Have already created rating questions as an answer to some users, using standard/interactive objects and advanced actions. One of the threads is this:

Could you please describe more in detail what this question should be: how many rating levels, how are the points scored, etc. Perhaps I could give you a suggestion.
