Question

Quiz scores not reporting accurately

I am using Captivate 2017 on Talent LMS. I am getting a lot of reports of users saying that their scores are not being reported accurately. The pass mark is 80% and often when people score more highly than 80% they report that they do not see their total score, only the 80% pass mark.

What could be causing this? Here are some screenshots of my settings.

Also, the 'send data on every slide' box is ticked:

Not sure to be of any help, but one question also for the sake of other users wanting to help.

You wrote that users don't see the real score. Do you mean on the score slide (which is included) or in the LMS? If it is in the LMS, do you have the same problem when testing in SCORM Cloud?

This might turn out to be a characteristic of your LMS.  Some LMSs stop being interested in the scoring data AFTER they see that the person has passed the required minimum score.

I suggest (as always) that you upload your SCORM to SCORM Cloud and test whether you see only an 80% score reported there, regardless of what the person really got as their score.  If you don't see the issue in SCORM Cloud, go back to your LMS administrator and ask them to check in the LMS documentation to find out if there is perhaps a setting they need to change on the LMS so that it waits until the user submits their score before recording it.

Another thing you can try is to turn off the Send Data on Every Slide.  That might be what the LMS is watching, so that it knows when the learner has reached their completion.  I would also try using the Status Representation as Incomplete > Pass /Fail as well (if your LMS allows it).

Finally, if all else fails, change the Template on the Quiz > Reporting slide to SendTrackingDataAtEnd.  That means the LMS only gets the score right at the end.

Report back what you find.  Others may be interested.
