Quiz Slides inserted into other slides??

Is it possible to insert a quiz slide into another slide with content on it?  I have a short story in a series of about 11 slides, and would like the user to be able to answer some questions pertaining to the paruticular slides as they unfold.  Is it possible to manipulate a multiple choice question that is inserted in another slide, and/or can the question even be inserted into a story slide?  Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Rod already offered you a link to my blog, where you can find several posts about creating custom question slides.

Do you want to have the results on the questions posted to a LMS? And do you want the questons to appear later on the slide? Could you be more detailed, perhaps show some screenshots or explain an example? Perhaps I could work out an example?

Hello Lilybiri,

Thank you for your response. I will try to clarify the needs I have for the C5

project, and will attach a slide for you to look at!

To answer your questions - I do not need scores reported to an LMS.

The intended users of this project will be elementary students who have special

needs. After doing a series of simple Drag and Drop tutorials, (colors,

letters, number, shapes), the users will hear a story written and told by a

child (peer). Ideally the special needs kids would then be able to try to

recognize some of the letter, shapes, colors, etc. in the content of a story.

So, I have the story as it has been written and told by this child...I am

trying to ask something like:

"How many legs do you see on this page?" Ideally, the special needs user could

select their answer from a multiple choice question on that same page. The

question would appear after the story was told for that slide.

"Where on the page is the color blue?" Ideally, the user could move the cursor

to the "blue sky" on the page.

These children will not be penalized for incorrect responses, but will be

praised with a written message of positive reinforcement.

I have attached the slide related to legs...I placed the multiple choice

question in the slide with a text box. It cannot be manipulated.

Thanks so much for your willingness to help!

Hi Sandrina,

You cannot attach files to forum posts, since several months, which is a pity.

Either you insert a screenshot, using the small still camera icon in the toolbar of the forum dialog box, or you send me a private message with a link to the file (or just one slide). You can post it anywhere, I'm mostly using acrobat.com.

I like the scenario, nice use case for advanced actions/variables. You need audio as well, not? Either for VO (to praise the kids) or to enhance the experience?

If you publish a Captivate movie with a single quiz slide as an SWF you might be able to insert it into a slide on another Captivate movie.  A user might be able to answer the quiz question this way (because it works in much the same way as any other Flash SWF interaction you might add to a project), however, it would not be likely to successfully report scores to an LMS or function correctly with all of the other quiz questions in the main project.

If you want the quiz question to report scoring and show up on the quiz results, you'll need to copy the entire quiz slide into the main movie.

Another solution to this problem is just to NOT use a standard multiple choice quiz question type from Captivate but instead create your own multi-choice question using buttons or click boxes and maybe some Advanced Actions wizardry.  Check out Lilybiri's blog for suggestions about how to do this: http://lilybiri.posterous.com/
