I am testing the trial version of Captivate 2 before we purchase the upgrade. I'm in the middle of a 5 part project. The first 3 were created in Captivate 1. I decided that the best way to test Captivate 2 would be to create part 4 in Captivate 2. The first 3 slides I create for the project are all the same so I simply converted my Captivate 1 files (after saving a copy, of course) to Captivate 2, added some of the new spiffies and went on to create the rest of my project 4. Within that project, there are demonstrations and interactivities. They are created separately, then imported into the project as an animation. I've had nothing but problems with this function. Since I need project 4 to resemble projects 1-3, I didn't use the new skins but instead used the BMP playbars that make project 4 look like the other projects. When I'm completely done, I publish my movie as an exe and my users can then download this from us. Running project 4 the first time, everything will look and work fine. Run it again and one or more slides don't work as expected. For instance, I have some slides where the user inputs text into a textbox, then tabs to move on or clicks an Ok button or something. First go round, it works. Shut it off and run the movie again, halfway through typing in the text box, the animation will end and the next slide will start. A caption that was changed and saved before publishing will show back up as the old one after running the movie the 2nd or 3rd time. Very random stuff. Is it possible that the trial version of Captivate 2 could be causing this? I'm very happy with the new features of Captivate 2 but I can't recommend we continue with 2 if this randomness is going to continue. Wondered if anyone else out there is running into trial version (or, heaven forbid) purchased version quirks. Thanks

Oh, yeah, I've tried the SWF - that's even worse. Sometimes with the SWF, I get the correct skin, sometimes I don't. The values for the skin don't stay - for instance, I choose Publish. The Skin choice will be something different each time. Sometimes it's My Current Skin, sometimes it's Mojave or Pea Soup, sometimes the borders are on, sometimes off. Then once I change to the choice I need, sometimes I get a *.htm file with a *.swf file, sometimes I get the *.htm, *.swf and *_skin.swf. On top of all that, sometimes the movie plays correctly with the latest slides I've created, sometimes it plays with a slide that was changed or deleted. Very bizarre.

    Hi JBelcher

Where is your project stored? I'm wondering if some of the weirdness may be resulting by editing the project while it is in a network location.

    Just a thought... Rick

Yeah, that was one of my first thoughts so I got the entire thing off my network drive days ago and put it on my local. I've sent Adobe an email asking how I can uninstall Captivate 2 then reinstall the trial so I'm not doing much while I wait for a reply. I was playing around with it earlier this morning - I have one slide that holds an animation swf that is an interactive movie. This slide plays great when I'm previewing but once I publish it, the interactive works great the first time, leave the slide then come back and all I see is the playbar which I have sitting in the top right - there's no movie, just a playbar. I have to have something corrupted cause if Captivate 2 really works like this, I'm sticking with 1.

Is it happening only in case of EXE. Did you try publishig to normal SWF files?
    thanks
