Random fonts replaced and "Connecting to Adobe Fonts" pop-up despite not using fonts in CC

Hi! Something weird started to happen with my source files, despite not changing anything in them or Captivate.

We are using Myriad Pro family font installed locally in Windows. Adobe CC fonts are disabled. Never had any display issues. Now all of the sudden there's a pop-up "This project will now link to your Adobe Fonts account" when publishing and text captions containing variables get reset to some default (times new roman?) font. In the editor, everything looks fine. Regular Myriad Pro text also looks fine. Some examples:

correct formatting before:

now title and page numbering font is reset:

correct quiz page number box:

now I can't even do anything about that line break:

correct quiz results:

quiz results now (only the numbers and congratulations parts got reset):

Also:

Preview from this slide--displays all fonts correctly

Preview HTML in browser--now displays incorrect fonts

To me it looks like some kind of a bug, because a few projects with the same font open fine and the Adobe Fonts Domains box is still grayed out, but almost everything else displays the same corrupted fonts and the Adobe Fonts linking pop-up. Interestingly, even when I remove all slides from a project and leave only one blank slide, I'll still get a pop-up about Connecting to Adobe Fonts when publishing.

Please advise how to proceed, or is it better to log a support ticket. This is affecting hundreds of sources and just looks unprofessional. Appreciate your input.

    Some important information is missing.

Which exact version of Captivate do you use? Full version number is needed, which you find under Help, About Captivate.

Is this a responsive or a non-responsive project? Important because I see that several of the texts you are mentioning are dynamic, not static text. That means text is rendered on runtime, and could lead to replacemen by a default font. Reason: Myriad Pro is NOT a websafe font. It exists as Adobe font, and I wonder if you have ever activated that font, which could be the reason that on publishing connection with the Adobe font site is attempted.

Learn more from this blog post I wrote about using fonts in Captivate:

It is a loss of time trying to repeat everything I explained in that post.

Hi Lilybiri, thanks for a prompt reply. My Cp version is 11.5.5.553 and the projects are non-responsive. I've never used fonts.adobe.com. All fonts are theme fonts. CC Dekstop app shows "Adobe Fonts is disabled", but I also just logged in via web and there are no active fonts or web projects there, however, in the previously active tab, it does show 3 fonts, Myriad Pro being one of them and some other two I see for the first time, Bebas and Trajan.

I think that's the scenario, which you described in your blog post:

"if you use a system font, and that paricular font is not installed on the learner's system, it will be replaced by a generic font (mostly Times New Roman), which looks very unprofessional."

So my question would be, how do I go back to using theme fonts correctly then. Is it something I need to additionally sync/reset between Captivate and CC/Adobe Fonts? Despite Adobe Fonts being disabled, I still see Adobe Fonts section in Captivate font selection.

Would switching to Adobe Fonts now require any additional steps for all projects to be displayed correctly? It seems Myriad Pro for some reason tries to use Adobe Font, despite being a Theme Font.

Indeed, it is a Theme font, but you see also that Myriad Pro is activated in that dropdown list. Arial and Trebuchet are websafe fonts, you see that they appear in that category.

You have read my blog, thanks for that (many users don't want to read, why do they use text in their courses I always think).

My suspicion is that the object styles where you use Myriad Pro are already using the Adobe font, not the system font installed on your device. You would need to check that out, which is possible in the Object style manager.

To clarify: Theme fonts are indeed linked to a Theme, but those fonts can be of any category in your fonts list. Because you are using dynamic text it is important to have Theme fonts which are Web Safe and/or Adobe fonts. One font is not a problem because your Captivate license allows you to use a limited set of Adobe fonts. Careful: I see only one font, you may need more Myriad Pro from that family of fonts, if you don't use the 'faux' but the 'real' attributes. Not sure if you understand me, but Bold can be a separate font in the Myriad Pro family. The 'faux' attribute Bold is mimicking the real thing and you find them here in Captivate:

The dropdown list in the screenshot which is set here to Regular, has the real fonts from the family. Sorry for that minimal intro in Typography. Most learners will not see the difference between faux and real, but I do.

What happened probably is that you are using a Theme without editing it, where the Adobe font Myriad Pro was used but only with a limited set of attributes. You have added real attributes for some of the dynamic texts and that results in conversion to Times New Roman.... Just guessing.
