Question

Random issues with objects not appearing

Lately I'm having an AWFUL time getting my slide objects (captions, images, etc) to show up in Captivate during preview. It is very random. I'll go back in, verify that everything is set up as it should be, verify that I don't have any inactive buttons or click boxes tying things up, etc, and the captions or objects still won't appear when I run thru the preview. Sometimes if I close the file and/or shut down Captivate, then reopen everything and run the preview, some of them will suddenly appear like they're supposed to. Others still won't. It's very sporadic.

The files that I'm working on are relatively small - 18 slides each. This problem just started with them - I didn't previously run into this a couple of months ago when I was working on different files, so it's as if this just started recently.

I'm relatively new to Captivate - any advise or insight that anyone can offer will be much appreciated!

    Hi BCinTX

One peculiar thing I've discovered in my Captivate classes is that Preview may not always show you things as you think it should. Basically, we seem to have discovered that in order to ensure Preview works correctly, make sure you Save the project just prior to previewing.

This as well as a couple of the other commandments:

    1. Thou shall NOT open thy Captivate project and try to edit it while it resides on a network drive. If'st thou dost this, corruption of thy project will mercilessly ensue.

    2. Thou shall NOT create extremely large movies with slides numbering into the hundreds. Those that keepeth thier Captivate projects a reasonable size (50-65 slides) shallst be rewarded with long life and no plagues.

    Cheers... Rick
